This week started off with a bang! Monday we had our neurology appointment in Albany which had it’s ups and downs. I gave Jeremiah the day off on Tuesday to help him recover from the trauma of that trip! The remainder of the week he continued working on pre-algebra and watching, “Stephen Frye’s America.”

I have been reading this aloud to Jerry. *(Warning: this book does contain some references to evolution.)*

I have also been reading this book to Jeremiah. It is very graphic so I am having to leave some portions of it unread. We were never taught anything about these boarding schools in our American History classes!
Malcolm and I took Beth to our little local Library on Wednesday. (Jerry didn’t want to ride in the car with Bethany again, so he opted out!) Lately, Bethany has been so wired that she can’t sit or stand still for very long. This trip to the library was no exception. She immediately picked out three books and a Dora DVD, then was on the move again and ready to leave. If Malcolm or I want to leisurely browse through the books available I guess we’ll need to plan a separate trip without Bethany!
Later in the week, I did manage to get her to settle down long enough to do a cut and paste activity and some beginning sounds worksheets though! We even went for a walk outside, which was a very rare treat!
Today I am linking up to:
No Rules Weekend Blog Party

Love how you let us in on your life and what it’s like raising a child with special needs.
Thanks Alecia. I really want to be honest about our life. People need to understand!
So your URL says that you have nine children? That is awesome. I always, ALWAYS wanted a big family but God only blessed us with two children here and one in Heaven.
I have several friends who have children with autism, some have a low tolerance for noise, stores, or the outside stimulation. Others tolerate it very well. I also take care of a 17 year old after school, mentally and behaviorally she is around 2 or 3. She is not verbal except to communicate when she is hungry or needs the bathroom. She does a lot of stimming behaviors and does not interact with people.
Usually she is a piece of cake to care for.. Last week and this week her behavior has been spiraling down and she has been throwing tantrums when she can’t have her way. One day she tantrumed for four hours and I had to call her mom at work. Screaming, crying, jumping up and down and trying to hurt herself. So I have been unable to take her anywhere lately.
Can’t have a 17 year old lying on the floor kicking and screaming at Safeway! Have no idea why I’m telling you all this except that I feel like you would understand. Her parents are working closely with her school and doctor to see what’s going on with her. Hopefully the tantrums will stop.
She will continually ask for a candy or cookie and even if you give her one, she will ask for more and more and then scream.
I love hearing from people! Thank you for commenting. Bethany has tantrums too. She can be extremely persistent which does make life unpleasant at times. It sounds like the girl you look after has quite a lot in common with Bethany. We had a grocery shopping incident just like you described a couple of weeks ago!
I was just thinking the same thing. (as above comment) Bethany is amzing. It great to see her interact with you, and to hear her speak. Bethany, I love you, too!
This happy face is for Bethany! God bless you all!
Thanks Pinulotta! I’ll showed her the happy face and told her it’s From you! she smiled!
So glad to help bring a smile to her face. I know she goes through alot.
Wow, you are one awesome mom to let God use your gifts in the way you do. What a blessing you and your blog have been to me this morning! Praying for you to have good health and strength to keep on keeping on.
In Him,
