This week Rachel came home from college! It’s always like a holiday when a grown up sibling comes back for a visit and we don’t do a lot of school work when family members are visiting!

I want to also shout out a big THANK YOU to all who made a donation for Rachel’s trip to China. She now has enough money to purchase her plane ticket! She will definitely be teaching English in Dongguan this Summer!

This was the reaction when Rachel walked in the door!

I am so excited that Bethany’s Consolidated Supports and Services Plan is in operation! She now has 22 hours per week of respite and community habilitation hours combined! Compare that to the meager 10 hours of respite per month that we’ve had up until now and it seems like quite a lot!

Of course now that she has been approved for the hours we need to find workers to actually do them! We have recruited her teacher (A) from Flash Club to do about ten hours a week, so we still need to find someone we trust for the other twelve hours.

A went with us to bowling and shopping last night and it was a huge success! Bethany was thrilled when her beloved teacher showed up at the house and was more than happy to hop in her car for the ride to bowling.

A plans on taking Bethany to bowling and Flash Club just about every week. It’s going to be weird for me to have so much free time on my hands! Who knows, maybe I’ll finally find the time to work on the book that I’ve been planning to write for the last thirteen years!

This session of Flash Club is Art Class! I was absolutely shocked that Bethany actually touched the paint! She even placed her whole hand in it! She was obviously very proud of herself too!

So glad that you’re getting some more respite hours 🙂 … The children and I enjoyed watching all the fun with the marble game. Everyone really enjoyed the art she made in class as well. My eldest said that you should buy a frame from Dollar Tree and hang it on the wall so that she can always see what a good job she did 🙂 (we’ve done this before for the kids and usually use the certificate frames)

Tell the kids that I definitely do plan on framing Beth’s masterpiece! I couldn’t find one big enough at the dollar store!

The extra Respite care is awesome! That is a huge increase. Not only will it be good for Bethany, but it will also be good for you and the rest of your family. I hope things continue to get better and better! Looking forward to seeing your new book! 😉

I am very excited about the respite, but also nervous. It’s hard to trust people! Today will just about be the first time I have been home alone without Bethany in 13 years!
