Friendship Friday: Sunshine!

welcome ff3

Welcome back to Friendship Friday, the gathering place for us to share a little glimpse of our lives with each other! I’m so happy you came! I love seeing old friends and making new one! Everyone is welcome here!

Malcolm, Bethany, and I were privileged to enjoy an Incredibly Awesome, Monumental, Incident Free Day at Sylvan Beach last Sunday! Bethany was happy and well behaved all day for nine whole hours to be exact! She also fell in love with the roller coaster! She is now no longer interested in riding the FREE carousel! It did our hearts good to see Bethany so happy and genuinely enjoying herself. It recharged our hope batteries! Maybe we should move to the beach!

Jeremiah and I have been frantically (in between too many cloudy, rainy days) trying to complete the projects in the solar energy kit, Here Comes the Sun which was given to us to review by Groovy Lab in a Box a subscription science kit program! Our projects were all very exciting I can assure you!

This collage is just a sneak peak. Please come back next week to see more photos and videos showing how we made a solar balloon out of black garbage bags, a solar oven out of the same bags plus the box which the kit came in as well as a few other items. We also made a buzzer buzz using salt water!

Bethany is still in love with her cut and paste spelling worksheets. In fact, she loves this learning activity so much that I decided to get creative and use my Boardmaker computer program to design a new set of animals names for her to learn. If you are interested in using Boardmaker symbols without purchasing the computer program you might try these resources or maybe these. index You may be wondering why Beth looks a little weird in the photo. She was telling me to stop taking pictures of her! This blog will be in big trouble if my star subject follows in Jeremiah’s footsteps and asks not to have her life showcased here for all the world to see!

And lastly… I know I shouldn’t complain, but with our painters either working all day, away at camp, or in living China for the summer, our house painting project is taking longer than I had hoped it would! However, I’m happy to announce that we now have three sides of the house finished!

I can understand Bethany enjoying the beach so much. After I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, Gary took me to the beach almost every week. It was the place I felt most at peace and most able to heal. One day we will definitely move closer to one.

OMG, I actually managed to link up this week! So cool! Am I supposed to put a link back on my blog? I am not much of a techie so you have to spell things out for me. Glad you are making progress on the house. I know what you mean about worrying that Bethany won’t let you photograph her. Whenever my younger son sees the camera he says “cheese” (he doesn’t smile, but says the word). This drives the older one up the wall. Lots of groans and “I wish he wouldn’t do that.” (Um, why? I’m not bothering you with the camera, am I? You should be grateful! lol)

I’m so happy to hear that Bethany had a better week and enjoyed her day at the beach. It’s too bad the roller coaster isn’t free, but at least she is branching out. It certainly feels like house projects can drag on forever when you are working toward a goal. I hope your house is ready to be sold soon.

The beach is a wonderful place to relax, it’s always been one of my favorite places and now the children share the joy of it. So glad that siding is up on three sides of the house! It’s certainly coming along nicely. I only have one child who makes faces at the camera on a regular basis… she loves picture taking most of the time but if she thinks I’m only taking it for the blog I get raised eyebrows and odd expressions lol
