Bethany’s Quest for Medical Marijuana is Finally Over!

quest for medical marijuana 2

I’ve said it before, but I’m gonna say it again just one last time!!

The journey to getting our daughter, Bethany, access to medical marijuana has been a long and arduous one!

When we first started out, it wasn’t even legal for medical use yet, where we live!

So we spent a couple of years campaigning to make that happen!

After medical marijuana was finally legalized, it took a year or so to convince, Bethany’s doctor to get on board with the idea.

After her doctor was certified to prescribe it, we were then free to register Bethany as a medical marijuana patient in NYS.

My husband, Malcolm and I were also able to register as her caregivers.

That meant that we would legally be able to purchase, handle, and transport Bethany’s marijuana products for her.

Now, I am ecstatic to announce that last Thursday, 2/23/17, Malcolm and I set out on a monumental and historic road trip to Syracuse, NY to purchase Bethany’s very first ever medical marijuana prescription!

When we arrived at the marijuana pharmacy, it was so surreal and kind of weird!

It was not at all like going to a conventional pharmacy!

The entrance was locked.

We rang the doorbell and were greeted by a guard armed with a 9 mm. Gloc pistol!

We had to identify ourselves before he would let us in!

Once we were admitted, it was much more like being in doctor’s office than a pharmacy.

I filled out forms very similar to the ones we have filled out at every doctor’s appointment we have ever been to.

Then the pharmacist led us into a conference room where he asked lots of questions about Bethany and her condition.

He explained his products, how to administer them, side effects and/or drug interactions to be on the lookout for, and his purchasing process!

I’m so glad he warned me beforehand that medical marijuana is a cash only business.

I’m not really sure why that is, but I’ve been told it’s because medical marijuana is not federally legalized, so banks can’t handle this “drug” money!

After our conference, the pharmacist lead me to another locked room where he stores his products.

Malcolm had not yet been approved as a caregiver yet, so he was not permitted to join us!

It was in that room that I was finally able to purchase Bethany’s medical marijuana!

With two boxes containing Bethany’s medical marijuana oil in hand, we were free to go!

Our journey was over at last!

10 years ago, I would never have dreamed that someday I’d be desperate to give one of my kids marijuana!

But now I legally can and have!!

Bethany has been taking 0.5 ml. of medical marijuana twice a day since 2/23/17 and we are already seeing positive results!

Her eye blinking seizures have decreased dramatically already!

We are so excited!

It has become impossible not to get our hopes up that marijuana will be Bethany’s miracle drug!

We are so hoping that marijuana will greatly improve Bethany’s quality of life!

We’ll keep you all posted as Bethany continues her extraordinary journey towards a happy, healthy, seizure free life!

I am so happy for you and your family! I’ve heard & read so many positive things in regard to medical marijuana. My husband told me that he saw something about a child with a tumor behind her eye that was pushing on her brain and the CBD oil made it shrink immensely.
I’m so glad to hear the oil seems to be working for your precious daughter, I hope it continues.
As parents we will do anything for our babies, I would do the same. If CBD oil keeps proving to be beneficial, hopefully it won’t be hard for parents/caregivers in the future. Wishing you all the best.

Thanks so much! I do hope it becomes easier to get and that they expand the illnesses eligible to use it. Or better yet, it should just be federally legalized for recreational use! Then everyone who can benefit from it will be able to get it easily and legally!
