Disabled Girl’s Future Plan

We officially put our house up on the market again a few days ago!

We had signed with another realtor a few years ago but only had one person ever came look at it.

That was a discouraging experience so when our contract was up, we decided not to renew.

We took some time to fix up a few little things and tried to sell it on our own, which was as equally unsuccessful!

As you can see in the picture below, it’s still a bit of a fixer upper, but we decided to try again!

As some of you may already know, we live way out in the middle of nowhere in upstate NY.

Our daughter, Bethany has many special needs and disabilities.

She will always need 24 hour a day supervision.

Obviously, her dad and I are not going to live forever, so we had to come up with a plan to ensure the best possible future for her.

Over the years, it’s been our experience that it has not been worth it for many workers to travel so far out to help us with Bethany.

Since we don’t want the total job of looking after Bethany to fall on our other children we have made the decision to sell our home of 32 years and move to the city where one of Bethany’s future guardian and brother lives.

In this city there are several organizations geared to assist people with disabilities to continue living in their own homes.

In fact, the one where Bethany gets all her services now is located in this city also!

And they have a lot of activities and programs going on and workers available!

Our future plan for Bethany is to purchase a multi unit home.

We will all live in one unit together and rent out the other(s) until my husband and I can no longer physically care for her, at which time, he and I will move into another apartment while Bethany remains in her own home with roommates and their 24/7 staff.

The staff of which will be provided by the organizations and we will be right next door in case there are any problems!

Sounds like a plan, right?

Will you all please hope and pray along with us that all goes according to plan?

We’d love for our our house to sell quickly and that we find a suitable new home just a fast!!
