Another Typical Sunday in the Life of my Special Needs Family

Sunday in the life of my special needs family 3

It’s just another typical Sunday in the life of my special needs family!

Even though we are Christians, as you read on, you’ll notice that a typical Sunday for us does not include going to church!

That’s because we gave up going to church quite a few years ago.

Sunday in the life of my special needs family 2

There are a few reasons why a typical Sunday in the life of my special needs family doesn’t include going to church.

However,  this post isn’t about what we don’t do on a typical Sunday!

But just in case you are curious, we stopped going because it eventually became too unpleasant, anxiety inducing, and depressing for us to go!

If you still need more details about that , please feel free to read all about it on my Beliefs Page.

In addition to being a special needs family, we are a also homeschooling family.

This explains why,  on this particular Sunday,  my special needs daughter, Bethany started out the day working in her new workbooks!

We had just received them in the mail earlier in the week and she was excited to check them out!

When Bethany was satisfied she had completed enough workbook pages, she and I went over her schedule for the day.

  • First, she needed to take a shower.
  • Then we would go to Flash Club!
  • Shopping at Walmart and getting her usual 4 Tacos afterward would be our last activities for the day!

Just so you know…

Flash Club is an awesomely fabulous social and fitness club for children and young adults on the autism spectrum!

Going to Flash Club at our local YMCA is Bethany’s absolute favorite thing to do in the whole wide world!

It’s the highlight of her week!

In reality, the activities at Flash Club have done more for Bethany, both physically and emotionally,  than any other therapies she has ever participated in!

In all honesty, I believe Flash Club is the best thing that has ever happened to Bethany!

Flash Club’s fun activities have inspired Bethany to move her muscles and become more active!

It has also been the catalyst for Bethany to develop cherished friendships with her boys at club. (She’s the only girl!!)

On this particular Sunday in the life of my special needs family, the activity at Flash Club was basketball!

Basketball is one of Bethany’s favorite club activities!

Most likely because she is very good at getting baskets!!

Being successful is fun for Bethany and motivates her to keep going and trying new things!

You can see what a typical Sunday in the life of my special needs family is like with your very own eyes in the video below!
