Have you ever wished that God would provide a silly little miracle just to make your child happy?

I have many times!

Well, one of my wishes came true when God gave Bethany her very own miracle of the caterpillar!

Some of you may have heard that we had a rough day last week because Bethany decided that it was time for the woolly bear caterpillars to come out to play! (You can read all about it at What About Undesirable Behaviors?)

All winter long Bethany had been asking me when would the woolly bears come out and all winter long I had answered that they’d come out when it was warmer and the snow melted.

Well one day last week the criteria had been met.

The snow was all melted and it was warm outside!

There was just one major problem…

Though we all tried our darndest, none of us could find a caterpillar for Bethany.

Bethany was distraught to put it mildly.

I am so happy to let you all know that Daddy finally found and brought home a caterpillar for Bethany on Saturday afternoon. She named him Carl, but sadly at about 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning she dropped and lost Carl forever.

It was a rough night and next morning, but she actually handled the tragedy much better than I thought she would!

On Sunday morning…

Rachel went out and looked for another caterpillar.

Daddy went out and looked for another caterpillar.

Mommy went out and looked for another caterpillar.

But one of us could find one.

Finally we convinced Bethany to go out and see if she could find her own caterpillar.

It was actually quite the miracle in and of itself, that she agreed to go outside and look for one!! She doesn’t really like hanging out outside unless we are at the beach or amusement park!!

I am sooooooo glad that I followed her around with the camera, because it was literally just seconds after I said, “I wish God would just intervene and make a caterpillar appear.” that BETHANY FOUND HER VERY OWN CATERPILLAR!!!!

I think finding the caterpillar herself gave her confidence that she was capable of achieving success because later that day after showing her caterpillar to all her friends at Flash Club she tried and achieved new spinning skills that she has never agreed to try before!

If you’d like to witness the miracle of the caterpillar in action just watch the videos below!!

Oh, and by the way…Rachel found another caterpillar today, so now we have a back up caterpillar in case we find ourselves with another tragedy on our hands!

What’s weird is that we have never seen them come out before October. At least we never noticed them before then.

Yes, I’ve prayed for silly little miracles just so my child could be happy 🙂 When our daughter Brynna was little she wanted to catch a toad. We were walking all over the yard and we couldn’t find one. I started praying that God would help us find a toad. He answered within seconds of me finishing my prayer. All of sudden there was a toad and our Brynna was smiling. I’ll never forget that day. I’m so glad that Bethany found her caterpillar. This story made me smile.

Hi! Found your site by accident, but this story made me think of the Woolly Worm Festival in Banner Elk, NC – http://www.woollyworm.com/ Hopefully it will let me post that link. Maybe Bethany would enjoy going, or watching the woolly bear races on youtube.
